I don’t see this outstanding talent some on here see. Actually I see us having less talent than most teams on our schedule.

What is being grossly overlooked in the ratings of transfers is the number of transfers. We’re outgunned.

    Baseball only I assume?
I could be wrong but I remember hearing that because baseball only does partial scholarships (thanks to title 9) that if you play football, football would be responsible for the scholarship

From what I saw this season, brooks wright is good enough to play college football. I guess it would be up to him and the respective coaching staffs

We’ve never had the talent like we did under Napier at OL.

We do have some very good OL on the roster. They just need to develop and stay healthy. I’m not sure we have the depth we had in the past.

Many ways to look at this. The Portal is not a long term solution. We, as a program have been very selective in who we take through the portal. But we’ve taken quite a few impact players. So lamenting this staff for not taking portal players is silly.

Less and less high school kids are getting opportunities at major programs. We need to continue to sign and develop high end high school kids. We can’t afford to buy high end portal players. So through the portal we look for kids that this staff has recruited or kids who want to come home.

I’m not suggesting the talent is outstanding. I just don’t believe it will be less talent than most the teams on our schedule. We have the talent to beat Tulane next year and win 9 games. Question is, will it happen???

We should’ve won 9 games the last two seasons.

I wholeheartedly agree. Maybe even more. All I’m saying is talent is not the issue. Not even close.

I am worried about the trenches.

But UL didn’t. This is a make or break year. Repeat the last two seasons, that’s going to be an empty new stadium.

So the coaching staff is even worse than we think?

We have the talent to beat Tulane? Based on what?

Based on how we looked, eye test, vs. teams like: Troy, South and TXST. All three of those teams would have been a problem for Tulane last season. Not saying they would have ran away with the game or anything. Just saying those teams were good enough to knock off the Green Wave.

Possibly…but I think they are who we think they are.
