Splash hire would have been a hire that got the fan base excited. The Des hire did not do that unfortunately based on fan reaction (money and butts in seats are pretty clear indicators)

We probably could have gotten a "splash hire" for around the same money . That being said, it's time to ride or die with Des. I think he can be successful ultimately

When Billy was hired we were a top 25 team coming of a 31-1 season. The job had grown so pay should have grown.

GJ Kinne is making more now but he was hired for around the same money at the same time. He was a college OC before becoming a head coach. He's revitalized Texas State's whole program as far as attendance and support

Just an example since you asked

The coach who had Finley this year and the Cajuns beat. You wanted us to hire a coach the CMD beat 41 13 last year and also beat this year. Ok, buddy.

Not sure that translates into what you are saying. Also, let's see how that guy does before we anoint him for anything.

Right. Just because Des got $750k per doesn't mean we had to pay him that much or couldn't have gotten someone with more than position coach experience for around $750k

Your angle was we couldnt afford anyone with more than high school or local position coach experience.

That first year score is irrelevant. Look at where they were when he was hired until now and look at where we were (back to back top 16 finishes)

If you want to stay on topic, look at their attendance before and after compared to ours

I've been to every home game that he has coached and will continue to be. Have you been to any?
