At this juncture we should be extremely appreciative of the work John has done to at least create a collective and his efforts to get the ball rolling. It will be interesting to see if we have any one else is willing or can take up this initiative and keep it going. There may need to be more incentive on the front end as a percentage of what is raised in order to lure another into this project. Remember, Louisiana can’t be directly involved otherwise it is not NIL or it is illegal NIL.
"School not involved" is the biggest joke of all.
Otherwise a money man could recruit and dump a truck load of players on a program that has no room for said players.
The school has to be involved.
Who they want and who they will take is first and foremost.
New moneyball- no NIL and no off campus housing, back to dorms.
Maybe even practice at 5am...
I’m concerned going forward with UL involved since it requires work in-house. Can’t farm this out like concessions.
The school can’t direct the money otherwise it would be pay to play. There is a strong sense of chicken and egg here. Surely an overly broad definition of involved would make any use of NIL illegal. But it must be remembered that any rules by the NCAA will be subject to being determined unconstitutional if such rules in any way deprive the athlete of the or constitutional right to make money. Since it is the courts that made a determination that athletes are constitutionally entitled or have a constitutional right to NIL, there will always be much gray areas involved.
Also ncaa cant even keep track of how long practices are, teams "self.report" doubt they could unearth some huge school involvement
