Oh, with UL’s 3rd party business model killing athletics, you’d think they run to a NIL conglomerate. But as it has publicly happened, FSU and Florida has shown the separation line that suppose to exist is a joke. Even in LC, the long standing PertroChem booster group was absorbed into the university controlled group and bam! There’s their NIL.
UL needs to figure this out fast. We have a lot of nice guys as head coaches. And we all know how nice guys usually perform. UL needs to get into the fight. Squeaky clean on the sidelines won’t cut it.
I'm still managing the collective. I had some pretty significant personal changes transpire in November and had to take on a salaried position while getting benefits, also allowing me more time with my kids. So at start of the new year I made the choice to do something I never thought I'd have to do. We are still working on things with the Krewe and the board is still actively meeting. Appreciate all in Cajuns nation. We have to continue to push this thing forward! I'm hoping that administration is able to bring in an inside fundraiser that may be able to drive this also. As I have worked on NIL for few months now I believe that is best model to ensure seamless communication and no overstepping of roles, especially with some of the larger capital projects going on.
Thanks for all you have done and continue to do.
Nothing but the best in your new endeavors
If I remember right, John approached the university and asked to start/run the collective. They were like “oh, yeah. We’ve been meaning to look into that.”
The thing is up and running and it’s been successful thanks to John’s work. Now let’s keep it going.
Not sure if the university can be directly affiliated with it but you’re darn sure there’s a relationship. Look at how the hundreds of other programs are being run (within the rules) and copy the best model for us to continue to move forward.
At this juncture we should be extremely appreciative of the work John has done to at least create a collective and his efforts to get the ball rolling. It will be interesting to see if we have any one else is willing or can take up this initiative and keep it going. There may need to be more incentive on the front end as a percentage of what is raised in order to lure another into this project. Remember, Louisiana can’t be directly involved otherwise it is not NIL or it is illegal NIL.
"School not involved" is the biggest joke of all.
Otherwise a money man could recruit and dump a truck load of players on a program that has no room for said players.
The school has to be involved.
Who they want and who they will take is first and foremost.
New moneyball- no NIL and no off campus housing, back to dorms.
Maybe even practice at 5am...
