    Default Ranking the Cajun Football Coaches of the past 50 years

    Here are the coaches and their records over the past 50 years (since the death penalty seasons). How would you rank our coaches in their tenure at USL/UL? Keep in mind that Augie Tammariello was rebuilding after the "death penalty" seasons of no sports, and Rickey Bustle was rebuilding after the Jerry Baldwin seasons.

    Are we a school that is destined to be a sub-.500 team, or are we a school with the potential to be the best of the G5 schools?

    Augie Tammariello [74-79] 30-35-2 (.463)
    Sam Robertson [80-85] 29-342 (.462)
    Nelson Stokley [86-98] 62-80-1 (.437)
    Jerry Baldwin [99-01] 6-27-0 (.182)
    Rickey Bustle [02-10] 41-65-0 (.387)
    Mark Hudspeth [11-17] 29-38-0 (.433)
    Billy Napier [18-21] 40-12-0 (.769)
    Michael Desormeaux [21->] 12-14-0 (.461)

    No way that Hudspeth record is correct.

    Augie, Sam and Nelson played much tougher schedules than the others.

    In addition to the A&M win in 96, Nelson had some really close losses to some good teams. Like Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, and Auburn. We played Alabama fairly close too at home. He had it going pretty good for a few years.
