Thread: We were told Marlin graduates players

Bob earned his extension. But prior to that everyone with a brain knows he was kept because the social club wants to feel like they are part of the team. Marlin befriended them and they want to take care of their buddy. Same with Maggard, it doesn’t matter that we don’t draw flies. It’s spun as basketball is dead in the south. Or he graduates players, wins a lot. All of that is misinformation and covering the fact that keeping him is lazy and detrimental to the program.

Want to reduce that athletic budget deficit? Hire a coach that puts 5k in the dome and gets to the dance every other year.

Are we sure the non social club, also doesnt want to feel part of the team? So the posts arent actually against wanting to feel as part of the team, it is simply a different team?

So the pro marlin crowd and anti marlin crowd arent really that different

Do the same 12 also have just 3 down years over the same time frame? Checks notes: 3 years with poor graduation rates and 3 trips to the ncaa dance, odd coincidence.
How do the other 12s charts ebb and flow in correlation to their trips to the dance?

Whatever other programs do isn’t important to me. I don’t want to be part of the norm. I want UL to excel and exceed the norm by a lot.

This is the unvarnished truth. And it speaks loud and clear that winning is def not the priority. And before any pumper pulls up to ask if we get a scumbag coach to win at any cost, no. That's obviously not what I mean. It's the fact that it's more of a social club than a basketball program. There's no other way to spin this.

Well we have reached R1 status. That seems to be exceeding.

I’m pretty sure the university publishes 5 year graduation and retention rates.

I meant it is only through sports coverage that R1 gets mentioned.

Anything published academically (that could help enrollement) falls on few ears.

I know you’re up on this but Dr. DeWayne Bowie VP of all things admissions has been using our R1 status with guidance counselors both in and out of state. We’re doing well not only in new areas of LA but also Tx, Ms and Al. We see it in our dept. Better quality students from more diverse areas. I’m sure we could market it better to the masses but the HS guidance folks get the info.
Thank goodness UL decided to go out of state more because the in state pool is shrinking and colleges are feeding off each other. U of Alabama and Mississippi are hitting New Orleans for similar reasons. Bad enough we have to compete against TSAB but now other states.
