Minnesota did not become bowl eligible by beating UL, they became bowl eligible by having highest APR of all 5-7 teams

I would re-watch those 3 games for each QB. One struggled mightily vs very very very mediocre to weak defenses. The other put up Heisman worthy stats vs top 10 defenses in those 3 losses.
Using your logic You must really think ZC's QB play this year was Heisman worthy.
Real world......There are 37 uncommitted QB's in the portal right now in 247 rated higher than ZC....37 and none sniffed the Heisman.....that's after 40+ portal QBs have been signed by FBS teams.
What happens if he doesn't find a team?
IDK how many 'portal' scholarships we have available to give, but based upon the numbers of players in the portal the coaches have a lot of players to evaluate.
What’s not to say schools have their “nil agents” tamper with multiple players on other rosters and make promises. Then all these guys enter the portal. Said school takes who they want and let the rest die in the portal. No harm for the school and they only made other schools weaker. It’s a ____ show.
Example. UL offered 1mil to each projected starting QB in the sunbelt. Get them all into the portal. Take the one you want and let the rest either go elsewhere or die in the portal. No penalty for UL and made every other sunbelt school worse
That may be what happened indirectly for ZC....in the couple days before and since he entered the portal a couple dozen higher star profile P5 QBs hit the portal
The team that coaxed a player into the portal would then have dozens of other option to consider. Also supply/demand pricing changes due to excess supply
