Thread: Should a player on an NIL contract have to pay back his NIL money if he opts out of a Bowl Game

I believe a contract is a contract. You play until your team is finished their season, and that includes a bowl game. If you get 1 cent of NIL money it should be mandatory that you play if your team makes a bowl game. If you do not play then you should pay back 100% of your NIL pay.

FSU did not make the final four because the QB got hurt and can't play. If a team in the final four has a QB that decides to not play, should that team be disqualified?

    Probably depends on the contract….

Should someone on scholarship have to pay back their scholarship if they dont earn enough credits

And leaving via portal shouldn't affect it either, since "university is not involved"

Don’t see a way to legally connect NIL to performance. Like that matters.

Players have contracts now? They should be for public viewing just like coaches.

While I’ve never been a union guy, what would be pretty cool to see is all student trainers, equipment managers, videographers, etc demand money too. Literally, without them they can’t perform.

Would be funny to see a walk out by those support people and watch these guys have to tape themselves up, put out all the equipment and fill up their own water bottles until everyone who contributed to their success gets a piece of the pie.

They are able to earn money for their name inage likeness without disclosing who is paying what for which name, image or likeness??

I can see in the long term, possibly lawsuits implying complicity between universities and NILs suggesting restrictive actions resulting in a loss of future earnings. Got a sniff of RICO probably in some cases. None of this will end well. Nobody will win in the end.
