Thread: Pitch Two for Albineaux in the Campaign for the Next UL Mascot

  1. Default Re: Campaign for the Next UL Mascot: The Second Pitch for Albineaux

Bring Al on board. Louisiana needs Al. It would be an unbelievable and well deserved coming.

It does look much better than ANY Cayenne concept one could come up with.

But this is where Mr. Bineaux is superior. The only color that stands out on the helmet you like better, is an orange circle.

That's the difference between our arguments.

Besides a Cajun Man mascot, I don't want any other mascots on the helmet or uniform. Doing so would be a de facto changing of our nickname.

It’s a concept I used Miami as a perfect example. Is Sebastian the Ibis changing the Hurricanes nickname for Miami, or is Tulanes Riptide the Pelican changing the Greenwave nickname?

In an information vacuum I would endorse your take, but we have a plethora of real world information that shows this is not a worry.

The reality is/was no one called UL the Chickens or the Peppers.

A master stroke Spirit Leader won't lead to a different outcome from what history has shown us.

What about the Browns have you seen there mascot and they have it in the middle of the field.

It’s a evil Elf they have it at the 50 yard line . Brownie

Early 90's. I'm sitting in Cajun Field next to some USM guys. We started chatting. Midway through the 1st quarter, guy turns to me and asks, "So, who are y'all? The Cajuns or the Bulldogs?" We still had a bulldog on the sidelines.

Mascots matter. If it is not a physical representation of your nickname, it needs to be a minimal background figure or a fun, spirit leader that no one would confuse with your nickname. (Blood Clot, Cayenne, etc.)

This is the Golden Rule that so many of you here pretend doesn't exist.

Do they put it on the uniforms or the helmet?

No. This is a perfect example of a Spirit Leader. Same with the U's Ibis.

No. Those are Spirit Leaders. Love them. You won't see them on uniforms or helmets.

Interesting and expected because Bulldog/Ragin Cajuns involved an actual change of core identity.

In the long run it shows that even though the Bulldog was the historically entrenched identity, having a bulldog on the sidelines didn't interfer with Ragin' Cajuns when all was, said, and done.

There is no Rah Rah character that can or will infringe on Ragin' Cajuns.

But there is one that would raise the game day experience and personna.

Elevate your event with the unforgettable presence of Sebastian the Ibis, the iconic Miami Hurricanes mascot.

modern "wave" as a primary logo mark. A new pelican mascot was introduced and given the name Riptide by a vote of Tulane students.

Call it spirit leader, mascot, whatever it will not change the nickname or identity of Ragin Cajuns
