I resolve to be a positive influence on Louisiana athletics.
Stop saying “putting the cULture on display” until we can actually bring that culture back.
Don’t quit. That’s all I’ve got.
Get a mascot !! I saw this on Facebook I only bring this up because I don’t think it’s worth starting a new thread !
If we were to have a Rougarou as a mascot this is what it needs to look like with a Cajun shirt !!
No, we’re not wear-wolves. A fictional monster might work for you, but can’t represent a people’s culture.
Just doesn’t. The gator is real, the Catahoula is, even the Cajun cowboys are. The musicians are.
The fact is I’ve never heard of this until my fifties on RaginPagin. Parents are pure French Cajuns from Canadian times, that’s 4 centuries. Not a single word about these wearwolves ever uttered In my family.
But you’re definitely correct it’s a thing here. It’s just not appealing to me.
I don't know if I've heard this before, but possibly a "Traiteur" might have some potential if done correctly. I think it's unique to our culture. Just a thought.....
My dad would tell us the story of my great-grandfather Aubrey Brasseaux encountering a Bigfoot like creature in the marsh around Prairie Gregg.
Him and a couple of his friends were hunting around sunset, and they heard something in the grass. The area where they were had grass taller than them so they couldn't see. One of them put Aubrey on his shoulders to see. Aubrey said he could make out the head of something about 100 feet away. He yelled "Arret! Arret!", but the thing kept coming. Aubrey fired his shotgun and dropped it. A few seconds later, the thing got back up and started running at them. They ran.
I'm guessing it was a huge bear on his hind legs, but you never now......
WAY to much education required to make a wolf work.
