Not sure how 1 and done is even legal anymore. Once 18. and you are a legal adult, how can you outright ban an adult from employment? Football has same issue at 3 years before eligible.

Baseball is closest to full pro eligibilityessentially the only year off limits to draft is year 2/sophomore year of a 4 year college or reach age 21. You can go pro yr 2 from a 2 year college.


In the age of NIL.none of these eligibility to be "professional" hurdles makes any more sense.

Good points. The government can regulate any profession. They can make all sorts of requirements to become employed in a certain field. If the elected officials wanted to regulate professional sports, they could.

I’m sure the NFL owners would love that, but but they probably won’t want to give a 17-19 year old the house. Football ain’t basketball, they probably create a supplemental draft for pennies on the dollar and retain their rights for a couple of years at least.

Since everyone is paid and wants to come and go like employees, the scholarship should come with an employment contract complete with noncompete clause to replace the sit out years.
