Thread: Wouldn’t this be a backwards move?

Default Wouldn’t this be a backwards move?

Something just doesn’t feel right here. Leaving Louisiana as a DB coach to take the same job at tech? Maybe he was on the hot seat here?

Possible and this was to save face

What do you mean by “to save face”. I think it is a move in the wrong direction for the coach. Going to a team that won fewer games in a worst conference.

Because maybe he was being fired.

I think this may be a situation where Des says “Leave or we’ll have to fire you”. I kind of hope that’s the case because it would show Des is willing to make changes.

If that’s not the case then sheesh. Makes you wonder if things are getting worse.

Some Staff turnover was needed. We were pretty good on 1st/2nd down on pass defense. I'll keep it PG.... Our 3rd/4th down pass defense has "tremendous upside potential" I see this as a huge positive.

I also agree....looks like this move was pre-emptive. Which is fine.

Maybe so. I know playing don’t always translate to coaching but he was probably the coach on the staff with the most exposure to the game. First round draft choice out of Norte Dame spent 10 years in the league. Probably studied more film over his career than any other coach on the staff.

Getting let go with a coaching Staff change vs getting fired is much different for your next move.

The fact that he was about to get fired is pure speculation and no one knows that was the case.

    Although a viable alternative

But we were told how great it was we had zero staff turnover from ‘22.
