Decades of parochial politics has turned 49 into nothing more than election time photo opportunities.

Our regional legislative delegation sees their duty akin to the coaching search when CBN left. Can’t see past their own back yard.

At one time the CoL stopped giving permits for new construction for the entire thruway median. Now with a footprint on record, anything south of the bend around St Genevieve isn’t impacted. That could explain some permits.

Two projects that would bring positive impacts to north and south Lafayette- Building a bridge over Vermilion Rv. extending S. City Pkwy will be much more useful to tens of thousands of taxpayers. Adding a service road on northside of I-10 from N. University to Amb. Caffery will spur development/further expand tax base. I-10 frontage is a mostly ignored, underdeveloped asset to the City-Parish.

It all comes down to who owns the land. The S. College extension is a great example. Allegedly only needed to buy out 10 homes on north side of the river. Never happened, connected properly owners prevented the project, no longer on the books.

When the day comes the connector is under construction, then people who may remember this fumble will be angry.

$1 million awarded for sewage infrastructure. Good news but doesn’t sound earth shattering as their previous teaser post indicated

Agree. Yes 1M is nice, but flatulence in a wind storm.

Is there a way to see how much property tax is paid in each school district?

I love these Facebook posts where they announce some kind of infrastructure project and the comments are nothing but "lemme guess- its on the southside! No help for Northside!"

I was hoping something on the I 49 connector.

Well, the MP did say she/her was for I-49. Buying and clearing ROW would be a move in the right direction.

I’m sure there is a high probability of some adjudicated properties are in the footprint and adjacent path. Acquire and clear, show an effort on LCG’s part to DOTD. The state was budgeting 2M a year for acquisition awhile back, wonder if that stopped due to the constant drone of coteries and the lack of making this a top priority instead of a once every 4 year photo op.
