Since he is from Zachary, Dez probably recruited him from high school. I guess he got homesick while he was red shirting.

Adapting to the new battle space.......AZ State has 8 transfer portal commits. Williams is 1 of the 14 leaving.

I've been giving a lot of thought to the future of football recruitment, especially in light of the changing dynamics of today's sports landscape. I think Dez, has to shift in his approach. It's essential for Dez to recognize that the traditional model of recruiting talented high school players may not be as sustainable in today's football world. The emergence of the portal has changed the game, creating new opportunities and challenges. I believe a hybrid strategy, combining both portal acquisitions and high school recruitment, could be the key to success. The reality is, if our team performs exceptionally well in the first two years, we run the risk of losing our top talents to big schools offering lucrative NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) deals. The portal, in this context, becomes not just a contingency plan but a proactive strategy to fill gaps, adapt to changing dynamics, and maintain a competitive edge. In my view, embracing a mix of portal acquisitions and high school recruitment is the future of football. It provides a balanced approach that allows teams to tap into the immediate impact of experienced players while fostering the growth and development of young talents.
