The season is over and the results are:

Brian Mitchell---23,366 all purpose yards
Jerry Rice-------23,117 all purpose yards

Brian now leads Rice by 249 yards. For this year the totals were Brian 1,365 yards to Rice's 869-- A difference of 249 yards. I don't have any idea how long these guys will compete but it looks good for
Brian as long as he can stay in the game.

Brian also missed the magic #5,000 yards by 1 for punt returns.

Brian missed the magic # of 5,000 punt return yards by 1 (one) yard. It should't take him long next year to blow by 5,000 and extend it as far as he can.

I like how this writer said this matter of factly.

Not recently, but in Brians last year he returned kickoffs, returned punts, caught the ball, ran the ball out of the backfield, and finished the season under center..

Not quite, but you are right Jerry is incredible.
97% of his yards came from recieving
645 yards came rushing the ball
and he had 6 return yards his rookie year.

Brian is just as incredible, in some ways more so.
 8% came rushing
10% receiving
21% from punt returns
60% kick returns
the other 1% is mixed in with the rest.

I think that the small percentage of yards that he is credited with came from fumble returns. He would have even more yards if his pass completions were included ---Now that is worthy of Hall of Fame status. Can one come up with his passing yardage and add it in to the stats to compare with Rice????
