He has had several chances since then, he is always eligible. Those guys have long been in. If he has those yards on offense he is first ballot...it's the fact it was mainly accomplished on special teams is what kept him out. They don't value special teams, nothing to do with marketing. Not saying it's right but it's reality. Teams regularly sign guys literally off the couch to play special teams devaluing their perceived worth. I Still think he and Hester eventually get in.

It has everything to do with marketing.

Not one national story mentioned he had surpassed Jerry Rice until 10 months later when Jerry Rice passed him back up.

Brian didn't announce his retirement with fanfare, he quietly bowed out.

At the Awards Banquet Scott Brazda announced the new Brian Mitchell Award and declared Brian #2 all-time. He was actually #1 at the time. I corrected Scott afterwards and he said he was just reading what they put in front of him.

That is the norm. If you don't have a marketing arm, the sports world doesn't remember what they never knew.

I can guarantee you this, if Brian had stayed and retired as a Redskin, he would be in the Hall of Fame right now.

And they don't care or value either of them apparently. There are 3 total pure specialists in the NFL hall of fame. All time scoring leaders in the NFL...you gotta get past 60 to get to someone who isn't a kicker but only 3 are in. Tomlinson is at 61. Scoring a lot of points is a by product of being a kicker.getying A lot of yards are a by product of returning kicks, or used to he anyway. It took the NFL all time leading scorer 10 years to get in after a 25 year career. Brian has only been retired 14.

You're selling the wrong crowd Turbine. No one here is saying he doesn't deserve, we're offering an opinion on why he hasn't, and why it's unlikely. All opinion except fact he's not in and hasn't been a serious candidate yet.

This isn't the HOF, but I thought it was pretty cool.

Major airports have dedicated arrivals and departures for airplanes to fly. Into Dulles, there's the Gibbz2 arrival, named for Joe Gibbs.
