The credibility juice should flow both ways.
Brian was a trendsetting record breaking college player, and the All-Time NFL Yardage King when he played his last game.

I remember back then Sports Illustrated had an article claiming Major Harris was the first collegiate QB to have the 1000+/2000+ yard combo in a season when Brian had already done it.
i spent some time in d.c. recently, b mitch (as they call him up there) has a pretty good radio show and a somewhat active twitter account...except he rarely seems to talk about college sports
At first I thought your question was a bit of a stretch but after reading the below notes you are starting to make a very strong case.
"At Southwestern Louisiana, Mitchell became the first player in NCAA history to pass for more than 5,000 yards (5,447) and rush for more than 3,000 yards (3,335). He also held the NCAA record for most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback (47). As a senior, he rushed for 1,311 yards and passed for 1,966 yards while accounting for 25 touchdowns (six passing, 19 rushing)."
Exactly correct. I believe he actually had one better season than Brian. The Sulton of the Swamp reins supreme
