This latest stroll down mediocrity lane matters because we just gave him an extension and a raise. At an extremely crucial junction in collegiate athletics. Our supposed to be #2 revenue producing sport is instead a retirement home for the Rebounders Club.
There should be outrage about this, but they've run the fans off so effectively, no one is here to GAF.
It really doesn’t matter because we’re stupid enough to create never ending contract renewals. All he’s gotta do is win the tournament or regular season championship once every 4 years. That’s not on rebounders club, it’s on Mallard. Has nothing to do with friendship, but lack of a strong commitment to excellence.
Made the NCAA tournament last year and sold less than half the season tickets the following season. Speaks volumes. If you remove the businesses that buy season tickets, we've somewhere in the neighborhood of 500-600 actual season tickets sold.
That's an embarrassing reality for a program with history like ours.
I am not a basketball guy but the lack of size inside is going to hurt the team. Living and dying with 3 pointers will never work.
It's 100% on the Rebounders Club because they hold their money over the head of the AD and when basketball is broke, he/she who has the money has the power. You got the damn President of the Reboudner's Club following around Maggard like a got damn butler everytime Marlin's contract is up for renewal. They treat the ____ like a high school.
It is no secret around the complex either. The MBB program is being held hostage by a select few who pay the bills. And not a single one of them actually care about the program. It's all about being friends with the coach, riding on the plane to the away games, having access to the team and information, eating chicken wings at the Marlin pool party and playing patty-cake in the stands while the rest of us watch the games.
After they kept marlin I made the decision to never watch another minute of Cajuns basketball. It’s been 2 years now since I paid attention or watched anything. I even muted Cajuns basketball on social media.
I grew to not like basketball over the years and once they gave me a reason to not go back, I took it. I’ve saved a ton of time and money. I don’t pull against them and hope they win every game. I just no longer care what the program does.
Maybe Jordan Brown will come back and save us in the Spring????
