The king is dead. Vive la Paciolan
From Wikipedia
On January 25, 2010, the United States Justice Department approved the merger pending certain conditions.[12] Ticketmaster had to sell ownership of its self-ticketing company, Paciolan,[12] and license its software to Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), which would allow it to compete "head-to-head" with Ticketmaster for business.[13][14] AEG was given the option after five years to buy the software, replace it with something else, or partner with another ticketing company.[13] Additionally, Live Nation Entertainment was placed under a 10-year court order prohibiting it from retaliating against venues that choose to accept competing ticket contracts.[14]
I don’t believe this is the end of ticket fees. But they should be much less than Ticketmaster
I believe most venues have a facility fee that is attached to each ticket sold, that isn’t included in the ticket price. The explanation for a “facility charge” is “this charge is kept by the venue and goes toward the cost of hosting the event”.
The fee is usually dependent on price of the ticket. For example, the facility fee on a $5.50 UL basketball ticket was $4.00, while the fee on a $19.25 ticket was $5.00. A $49 ticket to Blake Shelton has a $7 charge.
I think the Facility Charge will like remain. The difference we will see is the service fee and processing fee, which I would imagine will be a lot less under the new company.
Ticketmaster will remain for all other Cajundome non-UL events
The backend of this system is as important as the front end ticket side. For the first time every RCAF will have a full CRM system that they control. It will take some time to integrate but the overall experience for fans when it comes to ticketing and communication should be much improved.
Tremendous news. Kudos to Dr. Maggard and whoever else was involved.
