  2. Ragin' Cajuns Louisiana Announces New Ticketing Structure and Partnership with Paciolan

With a targeted launch date of February 2024, the Louisiana Athletics Ticket Office will be housed within the Department of Athletics and has partnered with industry leader Paciolan – LEARFIELD's premier digital ticketing and marketing platform provider – to provide an enhanced ticketing experience for future events.

"We are very grateful for the ticketing partnership we have had with the CAJUNDOME for many years," Deputy Athletics Director Trey Frazier said. "This endeavor to improve our fans' experience and grow attendance is one of the most important projects our department will execute in the near future. Paciolan is the leading ticketing provider in college athletics and works with over 165 schools. This partnership will allow us to create a best-in-class ticketing and fundraising experience for Ragin' Cajuns fans."

Men's basketball tickets will remain on Ticketmaster through the rest of the season while baseball and softball tickets will move to Paciolan.

Fans can begin contacting the Louisiana Athletics Ticket Office at (337) 482-GoUL (4685) or at tickets@louisiana.edu in January 2024.

Hopefully this cleans up the ticket-purchasing experience - and without the ridiculous fees!

USM uses it and a $11 ticket is $11

For reference, South Alabama uses Paciolan.

A $7 ticket with fees for South Alabama basketball totals $15.
A $5.50 ticket with fees for UL Basketball using Ticketmaster totals $21.

So even a ticket with a higher base price comes out less than one using Ticketmaster. This is huge for fans.

Best news of the day. Kudos to the whoever made this happen. I can imagine it was an easy decision.

    From Wikipedia

On January 25, 2010, the United States Justice Department approved the merger pending certain conditions.[12] Ticketmaster had to sell ownership of its self-ticketing company, Paciolan,[12] and license its software to Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), which would allow it to compete "head-to-head" with Ticketmaster for business.[13][14] AEG was given the option after five years to buy the software, replace it with something else, or partner with another ticketing company.[13] Additionally, Live Nation Entertainment was placed under a 10-year court order prohibiting it from retaliating against venues that choose to accept competing ticket contracts.[14]

I don’t believe this is the end of ticket fees. But they should be much less than Ticketmaster

I believe most venues have a facility fee that is attached to each ticket sold, that isn’t included in the ticket price. The explanation for a “facility charge” is “this charge is kept by the venue and goes toward the cost of hosting the event”.

The fee is usually dependent on price of the ticket. For example, the facility fee on a $5.50 UL basketball ticket was $4.00, while the fee on a $19.25 ticket was $5.00. A $49 ticket to Blake Shelton has a $7 charge.

I think the Facility Charge will like remain. The difference we will see is the service fee and processing fee, which I would imagine will be a lot less under the new company.
