Thread: Army/navy not bowling

    Default Army/navy not bowling

Anybody know why there isn’t a bowl taking the winner of the army navy game? They’re both 5-6 right now. So one will be bowl eligible. 1.why wouldn’t they get the spot ahead of minnesota(5-7) and don’t either of them have a tie in for a particular bowl?

Ok. Looked closer at their schedules. Army had 2 fcs wins. So technically wouldn’t be eligible with a win over Navy. I assume the bowls couldn’t wait to see if navy won, making them bowl eligible. Too bad. Service academies always bring crowds. Navy in Nola woulda been sweet.

It’s Army-Navy weekend. The best pure football game of the season. Nothing on the line except who sings second.

Because they play their last game to late. Both agreed if not eligible going into the game to be left out because bowls are picked beforehand. Saw this on a pre game show a few weeks ago.

The only thing good about Army Navy game is nostalgia and tradition. The football played by less skilled players is the norm for decades. But still fun to watch.

If the talent is equal, football is always fun to watch.

I personally love the style of play in that game.

The idea that option football is played by lesser talented players at small time schools is not grounded in reality.

If you have the right staff, that signs the right players, it is a beautiful and powerful style of play.

Army had not been very good for a while. Then, they hired Jeff Monken from the Paul Johnson coaching tree.

    10 years
    5 Bowls
    3 P5 wins
    1 win over ranked school

Either Paul Johnson or one of his students has been coaching at Navy for 22 years.

    22 years
    15 Bowls
    19 P5 wins
    5 wins over ranked schools

So, you say that offense would never work at a P5 school? Paul Johnson was HC at Georgia Tech for 11 years from 2007 to 2018.

    11 years
    9 Bowls
    3 ACC Championship games
    2 Orange Bowls
Finished as high as #8 in AP.

Georgia Tech should have never run off Johnson.
Georgia Southern should have never stopped running the option.
Nebraska should have never stopped running the option.
