Remember the Wishbone options of Texas and OU?? And they were winning championships with it.

Every offense that is seldom seen, and run correctly, can be extremely effective.

If you have the right staff, that signs the right players, it is a beautiful and powerful style of play.

Army had not been very good for a while. Then, they hired Jeff Monken from the Paul Johnson coaching tree.

    10 years
    5 Bowls
    3 P5 wins
    1 win over ranked school

Either Paul Johnson or one of his students has been coaching at Navy for 22 years.

    22 years
    15 Bowls
    19 P5 wins
    5 wins over ranked schools

So, you say that offense would never work at a P5 school? Paul Johnson was HC at Georgia Tech for 11 years from 2007 to 2018.

    11 years
    9 Bowls
    3 ACC Championship games
    2 Orange Bowls
Finished as high as #8 in AP.
I didn’t say anything you said I said. I did suggest their athletes are not among the best. As far triple option football? It’s been given up for the passing game for decades even before the safety rule changes. If it were all that good it would still be the dominant football.

Schools have been bullied into dropping it by boosters not because it isn't effective, but because the boosters are convinced that they will be become irrelevant. The opposite is true. Every school that has abandoned the option has never regained the same level of success without it.

If what you say is true that the offense is run be lesser skilled players, that just makes it even more impressive to me as a system.

It also offers insurance from NIL poaching and Coaching poaching.

Why did you stop, did you run out of options?

Notice how many options was given…very subliminal humor.

Your last sentence is something I never thought about. This is very true. Would not be a bad idea for smaller struggling schools to implement.

ULM just missed a golden opportunity to make themselves relevant for once.

If I were the AD at ULM I would absolutely hire an option coach. They will never have the talent to compete with a standard offense.

I wouldn’t mind if UL ram some type of option system, with some play action out of it. We have 2 QBs on the roster that fit the bill.
