Not going to get anywhere with student participation if you think you're working with students from 20-30 years ago..

We either had a group in a car for a champaign trip to an away game, we also rented a 20 ft UHaul with 2 kegs a couple of sofas and
20 hardcore types...zoom actually witnessed the humanity..
Of course Mr. Fight Our Players feels the need to swoop in and save MH from the mean ole student posting ideas on RP.
OP, we can’t get these people to do the bare minimum so I wouldn’t waste my time expecting these aholes to lift a finger. I like that you’re brainstorming ways to generate interest and hope you share it with others. Maybe if you get a group of 10 or so, you guys can go through a travel agent (there’s a great one in town that plans group events for UL fans - Escape Reality Travel Agency) and get discounts, travel and vouchers.
Keep fighting the fight.
My recliner and sofa always made it to Cajun Field for tailgating when I was in college. lol. And I didn’t ask Martin Hall if it was ok either!!! We just did it!
Maybe all this started when they actually made a student tailgate which at the time sounded good, but maybe its time just to abolish the student tailgate to eliminate any control over it and let them just tailgate wherever. Government control always gets in the way. That way its a win win for everyone.
I remember hearing stories of my uncle being able to pay his own tuition at USL just from working part time in the early 90’s. That’s a next-to-impossible feat nowadays - I can’t blame students of today wanting to save. It took me two years to pay off my masters from UL, and I earn a decent salary. I wish tuition could go back to being $500 per semester lol
Certainly possible. I went to school in early-mid 90s as well.
Tuition was 1000 a semester and 1000 for dorm and meal plan a semester.
Usually my goal for summer job was to save $2000. Very easy to accomplish.
In the 70's my dad had a "full" scholarship which paid out a whopping $75 bucks a semester and that was all he needed.
Man, when I was a student, we couldn't make a bowl game. Then after I graduated and was excited to get involved, we dealt with the freaking toothpick years. Now, you're looking for incentives to go to a bowl game in NOLA? I wouldn't want a student bus because I'd have a caravan of friends going in our own vehicles. There's nothing the school can give you to make it "worth it". You're a student who can go see your team play in a bowl game two hours away while having an epic weekend. The opportunity is the incentive itself.
When I was student we played Tulane a few times we didn’t need help finding NOLA.
