A long time. They were a consistent playoff team in fcs. They beat FSU a few years ago when state was down.

The SBC desperately needs to work on their Bowl tie-ins. I realize contracts are currently in place, but being the best G5 conference, our tie-ins give the perception we are the worst.

In HS (early 1970s) I actually had a record or two of their band, particularly their drumline. This was before drum corps hit the South, and they had a tight drumline back then.

But seeing as that was in the recent Paleolithic, I'm not sure if they're still good.

PS I'm tired of this argument that the SBC-West is weak, when we have won the last 3 Championships, all by big margins. South Al pulled off the biggest P5 upset in the G5, badly abusing the Big12 runner-up, but the Jags only finished middle of the pack in the West.

A strong case can be made that we have mediocre records in the West because of greater parity; therefore we are more competitive, not less.

Again, it goes back to the problem of just looking at the W-L record, and not understanding the situation.
