Thread: Speaking of NIL

    Default Speaking of NIL

In light of the new stadium, the entire department having been in the red and the belief by the athletes that after being given nearly everything free they still need to be paid more, what lessons are the NCAA really trying to instill on these students....

Give a man fish vs teach a man to fish....

So was not UL in the red by about $5 million, so based off of an approx $40 million budget, if one of these athletes in the future worked for a company that was over 10percent in the red, would they be interested in giving everyone raises and building a new building in an effort to right the ship?

(And even if student fees are assessed, in my opinion that is still institutional support from academics and doesn't really get athletics out of the red) even if some skools dont count that as such

This is a confusing post in a lot of ways. NIL is not dependent on and does not affect the athletic budget at all. NIL is between a student athlete and the business or individual supporting them. I hate NIL, but it is what is. It just widens the gap between the haves and the have nots.

$38M total and Louisiana Law doesn't now allow for deficits in college athletics. That's why there are audits every year to report actual shortfalls. The money is transferred from the University Foundation and has to be paid back through the Ragin Cajun Facilities Fund and RCAF.
