Probably they saw the writing on the wall when they reviewed the ratings. Both sports radio stations in town have abysmal ratings. With LSU A&M BR in 103.7 there is no room for Cajun sports on that station.. You have to face reality in business, if it doesn't make money you just stop doing it. I would suspect radio listeners for UL sports are on the decline just as people attending the game in person is.. LSU having a bigger fan base results in more listeners results in more ad revenue. As Vito Corleone said "it's nothing personal it's just business".
That being said.... terrestrial radio is on life support. It will go the way of C band satellite TV. Satellite TV is on the way out. It's all going to streaming, podcasts or services like Hulu and others.
In the year 2023 where everyone has a cell phone or streaming device you can listen to the GOAT all over the world.
