There's really not much to report. It all goes through 3rd parties. NIL agents are a thing. I don't necessarily mean direct communication with players. There are film systems that create watch lists of players. Sorted by ranking, stats, classification, as soon as one of these guys enters portal there are alerts created. You can sort by home state, what schools recruited them out of high school, etc. You can recruit from a laptop. It's the new day unfortunately.
John no offense but I agree with Redtails. The RCAF could use a go getter like yourself. I appreciate your effort, but it is a long road to go down trying yearly to out pay folks for athletes when chances are they are going to leave anyway. The P5's will continue to cherry pick UL and other smaller schools.
We sold 10 tables of the 20 available, we also got a good sized contribution besides the tables. In 2 months, between basketball and football giving we have raised more than $150k signing 30+ student athletes that will be "brand ambassadors" with us. Just getting started.
Perhaps another football event held in conjunction with the spring game should be considered
Mike, I like how you think. Already in the works along with another spring event.
Just an idea, maybe a barbeque or crawfish boil in a tailgating (after the scrimmage) type environment with an affordable price, like $100 a head, might attract some interest. This would especially be true of there was a baseball game that night. Could be a full day of activities for Cajun fans, and the price would be something that would be inclusive to the lower end fans. As a retiree, I am really glad people supported the recent event, I could not justify $500 or $2000 a table for the banquet, but I could swing a ticket for an event like this.
Lets see, they sold 10 tables at the high class event. Cool 20 grand. What if they sell 200 tickets to my proposed low class event. Lets see, $100 x 200 lowlife type like me. Might also motivate someone to make another large donation. Might sound like peanuts to some of you, but if it were promoted it could amount to some real . Just saying.
We are discussing an event in conjunction with the baseball games at Minute Maid to engage alums in Houston area. I like the lower ticket price also, similar to basketball event. We didn't have access to large number of tables at football event for lower price tag. I appreciate all of these ideas! Lots of good ahead.
