Less champions square hours as well?

A billion dollar payout looks good on paper but you will never reap the full benifits if you don't sell the tickets.

So wait, we don't get the bowl payout unless we sell our allotment of tickets? Am I understanding that correctly?

You dont have to sell your allotment, but you only get what you sell.

Uh, yeah. And even if we do sell out, the money goes to the SBC, less allowable expenses. Been that way since UL was the first program to make out like a bandit with the NOLA bowl.

The SBC uses any “profit” to offset losses experienced by othe SBC bowl teams.

Well, it'll be a lot closer to the full payout with 12/14 SBC teams going to bowls.

    Good catch.

    This year is different.

But the trick is minimal travel. If a belt team other than Texas State gets sent west, that’s a huge hit.

Personally I’m expecting JMU in New Orleans.

The payout is the payout. It goes to the conference. In 2011, UL had a huge payday. In 2012, they changed it to where payout goes to conference and offsets any bowl losses for other schools.

Ticket money varies by bowl. Some give you a certain percentage. Some give you a certain percentage over X no. of tickets sold.

There’s a chance SBc has a few teams sent out west as well as a Hawai’i trip. It could be very costly.

The SBC was considering adding a few more when it went to 14. They looked at WKU and MTU but stuck with the 14-member model. I don't see them adding any programs West of Texas or North of Virgina.
