But were they horrible? They were middle of the pack in FBS.

Fair enough, the 3 down lineman scheme did not work.

It’s kinda hard to be good when it’s constantly 5/6 on 3. The scheme was terrible not the players.

Remember, that offset 34 look wasn't good under Hudspeth either. We have guys like Lawson, Gant, Whitfield and Peterson when he returns that are edge guys. They are not built to rush from the 5 or 7 on the 3 DL look. Bayles is an edge guy that they insist on playing inside at times. At 270 I don't care for it either. McGriff was never an interior DL. Narcisse and Wiser are solid inside and Hazard is simply a NT.

Big question is whether this assistant staff can coach these guys up..

Napier's staff did that as well as any coach we've ever had.

Desormeaux's staff -- this point -- has not.

T, do you think he'll honor his Alabama committment or end up here?

We are probably offering him in case things don't work out. He has a number of offers, I'm not sure Alabama takes him at this point.

Gotta disagree with you 84, this ain’t like losing a girlfriend. These young people almost universally want to go to the most prestigious football schools they can, and settle for the best they can get.

Dotson, Hunt, Mitchell, Torrance, Vallot and others were the unsung hero’s and heartbeat of the team allowing Levi and the skill players to shine. I am a firm believer that more games are won or lost based on the play of the interior line than anything else (excluding turnovers).
We can’t get enough quality big guys onboard!
    True words for sure

This staff needs to make an offer to Hutch Swilley (RB) sTm. This dude is the best player on the Cougar football team, already full of good players. Hutch has the highest offseason testing numbers in sTm’s 40 year history! 1 touchdown away from breaking sTm’s careeer TD record, 3.8 gpa all honors classes, 30 on the ACT, team captain, offer from Navy…but can’t get an offer from the Cajuns! This young man would be a fan favorite! Hutch blew past the Shaw defense Friday night and they have some P5 guys on that side of the ball. An offer needs to be made!

And local talent puts butts in the stands something we’re struggling with theses days…

I don’t believe that is true. I’m just saying this dude is a dog and we should offer him.
