The things I mention do not preclude a bowl game, but they certainly make it harder to reach. Next year for instance: if we schedule Oregon State, we have less of a chance to get bowl eligible than playing the opponent we actually chose in Kennesaw State.

Bowl games are devalued by scheduling to make them as guaranteed as possible.
