I referred to it as meaningless in the sense that you don’t rush back your hopeful future at QB after a broken leg to play in a game where while the result means something for the players, doesn’t really mean anything in the grand scheme of things. Winning would not put us in the Top 25. It would not put us in a conversation of even the Top 10 G5 teams for the season.
If this were a NY6 Bowl, or one to jockey for a Top 25 finish, then maybe you do consider starting Zeon if he’s healthy. But at this point, he should be given the bowl game off and hopefully returns 100% and in uniform for our program next season.
Yes, the bowl game means extra practice, a post season game for our seniors, and the chance to play on national TV. However, Fields should be the starter, Lunch the backup, and we win with those guys. Don’t risk reinjuring our future.
I believe that it was either Farmer or Maggard that said part of building a solid program was getting a bowl track record. Any bowl season invite is a gift. Remember, I’m class of 2001’. Bowl games were a pipe dream in my day and for the next decade.
CF might play somewhere else next year, but he got his degree here. Who even said he is playing elsewhere, he’s 5 years removed from h/s. CF bounced up and down the roster. Yet he stayed. And now, CF is starting his second bowl game in a row. He’s a true, resilient Cajun. And always will be.
CF will start. Played well against ULM.
He earned his legendary nick name......if he stays 1 last year or moves on with life
Cajun Fields.....the last UL QB starter at Cajun Field.
