With coach Desormeaux's offense who's to say. I know this, Louisiana has played many defenses as bad or worse and never came close to 90%

USM GAME....after that game I wanted to find out if we had installed 2 or 3 plays for Lunch and Bill Davis in short yardage situations. Obviously, and especially inside the 5 yardline. I didn't make any inquisitions to find this out, so I'm hopeful this is part of our game plan for the bowl game. I have no doubt ZC would have given us at least 1 and probably 2 TDs in that game on the goal line. He's not available, but anyone that saw Bill and Lunch run last Saturday, you have to include either one or both in short yardage downs. If this isn't something we've been working on, then, well, I really don't have anything to say.

Chandler Fields finds the open receivers. He reads the field well. His experience shows every time he is in the game. I trust him to lead us. Wish he had another year to give us.

Everyone can see what their lying eyes are telling them right? Fields has been in this program for 5 years. The last 3 games he started were as good as he has played and we didn't lose because of him, but we only won 1 game because we were able to run the football on ULM. Now Boot and a few others would have you believe had he started from the first game of the season, we would have won a few more games. My answer is simple, the QB position was not the reason we lost some of those games. When you can't run the football and stop the run defensively, we are simply not going to win many games. Zeon gave as much needed help in providing an extra threat to the offense's running game. He ran for over 600 yards in 6 games. Fields could not give us that dynamic, neither did Ben. Both handled the job well, but they weren't similar to Levi. Revisionist history is wonderful for the Boot.

I don't take anything away from Fields 3 games he started. His accuracy was great against ULM, but the running game opened up the passing routes without his dropping back on every down and getting hit. As a 5th year senior, I would expect his passing would exceed a RS freshman. He is certainly better than last year.
