Can’t be App St because we don’t play every year. I think there was a time we did play Ark St at years end. The game with the crazy finish and the QB was down before the ball came out on the last play that was over turned. That was the last game a cajuns field and I think last of the season.

IMO in a perfect world we would play Tech OOC every year on this week. Like Ga / Ga Tech, Fla / Fla St, Clemson / So Car…..

Only because being in the same conference with ULM defies logic.

I’m a pretty sharp guy, I know we don’t play App St every year. We should play them every year. That was a program this fan base started to care about. Now it will be 5 years or an SBC Championship game before we play them again.

I hate to break it to y’all but ULM is a rival. It’s not just the battle over the name but over the years the game has came down to the wire with 31- 26 with us having the edge.

It doesn’t matter if you think it is or not but they are our rival !

No ULM is not really a rival. But they are our b forever. They were desperate to be FBS, so much so they gave away the only thing stopping the UL movement. They sold out, even made a feeble attempt at the name, underestimating the Cajuns fanbase desires. The name movement is bigger than any sports competition.

Honestly, don’t know if we could pull it off today with the apathy that has set it at UL.

I guess it’s a Lafayette thing, in more ways than one.

I think it can be arranged for one team from other division to be permament.... not saying it is or should be app st, but seems regs allow it, uga plays auburn every year still i believe and tsab vs florida are in different divisions and play every year

In future end of year games against USM or Ark St. are likely to have more SBC West implications at stake instead of ULM. A big game heightens fan interest & TV interest, too.
I don't have any more information about this than the rest of you, but I'm sitting back watching the politics.

We are starting to beat LSU... a little bit in sports, but in other areas, badly. The inroads we are making in academics and research are not some flash in the pan. We haven't even hit our full stride yet, we're about to get a whole lot better, a whole lot faster. And that's because we have a larger view of a university's mission, we have higher goals than playing kids' games.

Right now, Savoie is the dean of university presidents, in the state, in the 'Belt. He was the former head of Regents. He knows more about politics than anybody else in Louisiana higher ed, he knows how to get things done.

On top of that, we just elected an alum to the governor's mansion. As you all know, the LSU kiddies are blowing hemorrhoids because his transition team is meeting at UL instead of LSU.

We are in the catbird's seat.

I've heard that the 'Belt encourages UL-ULM as a rivalry. If so, we don't fight it, because ULM knows we're their meal ticket. They are the weak sister in the conference, and would likely be dis-invited without Savoie's support.

So we have them where we need them, they can't afford to fight us politically. The political considerations are much more important than ball games.

And there are surprisingly few universities who understand that.

Where is UL beating TSAB a little bit in sports? The Cajuns can only beat them in SB and BB, nothing else. I hate TSAB but this is facts.
