If for no other reason Stokley should be remembered for dramatically closing the gap between Tulane and U(S)L during the 10 years we played in New Orleans.

That series totally changed how U(S)L saw itself and how the rest of the state saw U(S)L. Also greatly enhanced our footprint in New Orleans.

I remember watching him play in an exhibition game during his freshman year. I don’t know if he stayed on the team the entire year. Either way, kinda worked out for him!

Coach Stokley was the best football coach we have had at this school ever. Period.

When I think of coaches teams obviously Brandon, Jake, and Brian come to mind but I think of guys like Willie Simms, Patrice Alexzander, Clifford Champ, Charles Pool, Orlando Thomas… We haven’t recruited guys at their positions that looked like them since.

Definitely best coach we have had, if only he would have been given the support by the Fossil....I went to a good friend of mine HOF induction ceremony the year we beat A&M. Fossil said we would set up endowment for athletics similar to academics in his speech..what a croc.
