I use to say about Nelson Stokley, "he was good but who wouldn't be, with quarterbacks like Mitchell and Delomme."
What I was missing at the time was Stokley's real strength and that was his, ability to adapt his game plan to match his personnel.
Coach Stokley didn't try to smash a oversized square peg into a round hole.
And because of that he was successful at a time when Louisiana was playing the toughest schedules in its history.
He also changed his kickoff strategy based on a question I asked him at Pete's. Made me feel special.
