Thread: Saturday Was A Great Day

What is most frustrating to me is that in the span of the last 25 years we have gone from FCS losses and 1 win seasons under Baldwin to now being just two years removed from consecutive seasons as the only ranked team in this state (our greatest football seasons), with the longest win streak in the nation yet here we are bleeding fans/alumni support and attendance is trending back to the Baldwin years.

The failure to capitalize on the Napier years is what I find disheartening.

Good point. It was a huge, awful call that I think the ref knew was wrong. I don't think they wanted a chance for an upset. The TV commentator admitted it was terrible and probably offensive PI.

No one here cares about your walk through the mountains. This is a Cajuns forum to talk sports not family walks. I had a great day on my patio watching a pretty dang entertaining football game with my lovely wife and kids. Did we get the outcome we wanted? No. Will we be there to supports our alma mater and home town team next week? Hell yeah.

    Now you're making sense.

The old adage about winning in spite of refs usually allows for time in the game to overcome.

That striped "game interference" was unacceptable, especially in the closing minutes.

Bolting fans a mere two years removed from back to back Top-25 finishes and after rising from a history of 1 win seasons should know better than anyone that winning is cyclical and that success will come again.

I would have been wrong but I would have thought it impossible to be jaded after 3 good years.

Well put, It’s still frustrating that we SUCCEED DESPITE administration decisions and apathetic community/ alumni support. Seeing JMU, App State hosting college gameday, meanwhile we barely get 5,000 vs Regional rival Southern Miss on ESPN.

Just frustrating, makes losing worse when you know the potential we have here at UL yet so many fail to see it or take it for granted, Martin Hall included!

    It’s about way more than W & L’s.

It's a combination of things. For some reason the conference thinks it's a good idea to pick up homeless guys from the local circle k to be football and baseball officials, the apparent lack of interest from Martin Hall are two of the main things in my mind. Then the little things like scanners that don't scan, cell service at the stadium that suck so bad you can't download a progam. The young men and women and coaches don't want to lose any more than we do. It's like we take one step forward and 3 steps backwards. It gets to the point of one realizing, " this is crazy why am I putting myself through this".

How would the average lafayette resident not affiliated with the school and viewing from the outside know that the problem.is martin hall. And why would they care to differentiate which decisions/ideas come from martin hall and which come from athletic department?

The little things.... from then on is an excellent post

Gameday does not decide where to go based solely on attendance...
In 2014 game day went to Yale at Harvard when both were only averaging 11k in attendance for conf. Games
