Ok great back to my question anyone want to tackle what rolls they think our current players will have with the new staff. I keep hearing about the great recruiters the new coaches are and the kids they currently recruiting. Any thoughts on who's really going to be back and how they fit in with Marlin.

I think Marlin is going to love Raymone Andrews.

I think coach Marlin would like the potential of most of our players. He seems to like the upside to Batiste being a difference maker in the middle and Javan Mitchell's youth and potential to become an impact player on the offensive end in the post. I'm sure he'll appreciate what Andrews does and he'll need shooters such as Gradnigo, Bureau and Daigle to provide the offensive consistency. We need guys who can stretch the court and do things in transition and I think that's especially where we'll miss Tyren who excelled in the open court. Dison would be nice to have for transition defense and lockdown defense for opposing players but nobody knows what to expect with him. We need some frontcourt players, namely a physical presence who can rebound and disrupt things in the midde. I've been especially disappointed in our lack of physicality over the past several seasons.

Colby Batiste can block shots, he just can't stay out of foul trouble.

That will be his biggest obstacle this year..for sure. He needs to learn how to guard guys and let them release the ball and get space between himself and the offensive player before he goes up for the block. He will have his games where he is ineffective when he gets into foul trouble but I predict we'll see some really nice performances and see a lot of double doubles. He doesn't need to be a scorer, just a solid defender, rebounder and presence in the lane. I think Duke benefitted from a similar players development this past year in Zoubek and Batiste can be a poor man's version of him for this team.

Well maybe some quality coaching and good off-season conditioning will help remedy the problem.

Colby has improved every year that he's been here so I presume that he will improve drastically with or without coaching as he's done it thus far. However, coaching would obviously benefit him tremendously as well as all of the players on the team. I think his biggest improvements can be made in footwork and agility done this offseason. Colby, at times, did not play nearly as long as his frame would suggest as he was often out of position and didn't have the footwork to get in position.
