Bustle never won OOC away games. Mike won two this season. Also, Bustle teams routinely got shellacked in-conference. The only loss this year greater than two scores was against Arkansas State.
I know at the end of the day coaches are judged on wins and losses, but I will definitely push back against Bustle and Baldwin comparisons.
I'll say it's getting to be closer to the Bustle years only because of the way we have played against some of the teams we were favored to beat this season. Also, Bustle did not have the resources to recruit to like we do now, and we are sitting here with a 6-6 record.
I'll hold off judgement after next season, but for now, there will have to be some tough decisions made in those coaches offices this offseason.
Fair points. My expectation was 8 wins this season. I don't think anyone is satisfied with 6 wins with this schedule, but I didn't see any blow outs that warrant the apathy and prophecies of doom I see from some posters on here.
I think next year is a season I will personally expect CMD to turn a corner. Got a lot of kids with playing experience returning, favorable OOC schedule (P5 team surrounded by controversy in a spiral, Tulane at home). I'm excited to see what CMD can do.
Me too.
I had warned everyone in the off season that just as the offense had growing pains last year, so would the defense this season.
We've been playing a lot of young guys and new coaches have been learning on the job. Next season, I would say that 8 wins would be a reasonable bet. If our big names stay healthy, could be a GREAT year.
