    Not quite.

Napier has played the 16th most difficult SOS in FBS
Des has played the 121st most difficult SOS in FBS

Napier started from scratch, with 33% of his starting 22 being Freshmen and Soph.
Des was handed a loaded roster (and yes, built a lot of that cupboard himself)

    This comparison needs to stop.

The comparison should be made using their time with the Cajuns.

    Napier 7-7, 10-3
    Des 6-7, 5-6

We went from not losing a west division game for 4 years to losing to ulm in Des’ first conference game. I don’t give a ____ what billy is doing at Florida. It’s apples to oranges.

The Michael Desormeux story is still being written, and it will have a happy ending.

    Loaded cupboard??

Minus an all American guard and future starting tackle/guard. 2 RBs Johnson to Florida Bailey to TCU. WR and corner to LSU. LB to Kansas. So on and so on. Also graduated the most successful QB in program history.

Not only did Dez take over a program that lost a lot of stars to graduation he also started coaching when the portal crap started. If billy would have stayed maybe all those players would have as well, we will never know that. We also don’t know who would have portaled out under any other new coach. But the facts are, cupboard wasn’t close to loaded.

Give him time. I’d like to see a change at DC and would like to see Dez hire or elevate someone on staff to OC.

So then you're down on Tim and Des' recruiting then? Because they recruited the majority of the kids Billy left them. And notice I said cupboard, meaning players that would be ready to contribute soon, not necessarily players that were already starting. Ya know, like Zeon freaking Chriss...

Billy Napier took over a program with 30 scholarship players less than the rest of his peers, and in 1 season turned that into an 11 win team. I don't want to hear anything about Des' circumstances after two full seasons. Nape took over a dumpster fire with scattered talent that needed development. Des took over a program that he was intimately familiar with, kids that HE recruited, and loaded with young talent. And played two weak schedules. The results speak for themselves.

And to be clear, I'm not saying fire Mike Des. I personally love the guy, just like the majority of people. But he's going to have to cut bait with his DC and possibly a few others. We may need a new S&C coach. This team is not tough and IMO, that's a reflection of Nabors. And as someone who wanted Lamar here, he should have been fired after that embarrassing performance at ODU. Things like that, you can't unsee. Problem is, Des is a loyal guy, and it will be hard to fire his friends, teammates and colleagues that said YES to him when he needed them to round out a staff in a hurry. I'm very cognizant of the human element here.
