The similarities between Napier and Des are many. Both are 5-6 this season. Both finished 6-7 last season. Both are on the chopping block come next season.
If we get beat down by ULM a serious discussion needs to be had.
The day he was hired, I said on this board that we had USL'd this hire.
Mike Desormeaux has had two years to prove me wrong. That's enough time.
Restaurants don't get that much time to prove they belong in business. All excuses aside, what this staff has cooked up is a mess. Maggard and Savoie need to pull the pull Monday morning. Or they need to go, too.
Friends don't let friends mess up their careers.
Agreed. But, we will not lose to ULM at home. We will go to a bowl game and win it to go 7-6. With that, Des will deserve a 3rd year. The question will be what are the expectations for the 3rd year? A Western Division championship, a Conference championship, and a bowl win, a minimum 8 win season? That will be a critical juncture for UL football with the new stadium opening. There are no guarantees with a coaching hire as was pointed out, just ask Texas A&M who fired a previous national championship coach and UTSA who hired a HS coach. We trusted Napier and he recommended Des as HC. Des deserves a 3rd year. How about instead of totally bashing the guy and our program, we give full support to a successful 3rd year. If year 3 doesn't work out, then bash all you want and force a coaching change. Until then, Des is our coach and deserves our support. And so does the athletic department. Some of you want to boycott games with no attendance. That will kill athletics and put us on a level with ULM.
Look at the standings. Who is right behind us.
ULM can’t catch UL even with a win. But if ULM wins, UL is not bowling, finishing second to last in the west two years after a championship, and makes ULM finish on a high note.
Who has more incentive?
We’re knocking on the basement door with a loss.
