. . . almost two years have past and many hires have been made . . . surely one name could be suggested but still none . . . just that CMD was the wrong hire without even a suggestion of who would have been the right one . . . seems as though if one is so certain CMD was the wrong hire there would at least be a couple of suggestions of who would have been a right one . . .

Cav, you'll find that I'm a pretty honest guy. In fact, in the interest of being honest, I've only been called dishonest by one person in my entire life. And that's you. But when you have to fall back on personal attacks against people on message boards that you don't really even know, that's the type of thing that happens, I guess.

Now, let's entertain your question. You keep asking for who we should have hired instead of Des, right? Its an unanswerable question, because we hired Des. However, let's take that thought out to its conclusion.

Let's say, for a second, that Des had said no thanks. Now we have to hire someone. Do you think that with $750K, the best candidate would have been a co-OC/TE coach from a G5 school? Not a chance. Not even a small chance. The successful candidate would have had a much better resume than that.

That's not a knock on Des, its just reality.

. . . he didn’t say no . . . and he has many other attributes that no other candidate could possibly have had . . . so there is that . . . you are very good at trying to create a vacuum when there should be none . . . I just respond and you don’t like it . . .

Actually, no, you didn't answer the question: Do you think that with $750K, the best candidate would have been a co-OC/TE coach from a G5 school?

I don't know about that. I think you should be able to think of at least a name or two, especially with the retrospect of other schools who have hired coaches in recent years. Unless you think that it would've been something of a no-name hire, but then there's a risk that the no-name hire would flop.

. . . I don’t know that answer but like I said, the candidate would absolutely not have had some of the attributes which made CMD an attractive hire . . .

A national search found a no-name, hungry Billy Napier for 700k who had experience and connections. No doubt that should have been done again.

I suspect you do know the answer to that question, and you also know that it makes your question, that you’ve been repeating for a year, irrelevant.

Key point: there are lots of people with comparable or better resumes to Des that we could have hired. And as you pointed out, he had some intangibles that put him over the top.

Coming on here and acting like we couldn’t have hired anyone else is misguiding and damaging to Des.

. . . maybe, maybe not . . . and whoever that may have been hired would have to deal with Napier gutting the talent and coaches as well as NIL and free transfer which CMD had to deal with and Billy never had to deal with here . . .

. . . all that has been asked for is one name . . . and the answer has always been either overqualified that would not have come for that money or crickets . . . surely if the field is that wide open, one name could be given . . .

But I ask again what positives have come to Louisiana, its players and coaches from it . . .
The fact that we took time out of our day to actually do a postgame and talk about it is a positive. It shows that we care. We also gave words of encouragement to the players who were listening in as well to which we got a positive response.

When no one is talking about the game right after is when you should be the most concerned. Just because we are not all sunshine and lollipops after a loss does not mean that it is always a bad thing for the university.

I can’t count the number of times Juluke’s name has been mentioned.
