The Arnold Air Society of our AFROTC detach shot cannon at McNaspy in 60s. We had one minor incident. After one score an unnamed cadet was a tad early in firing the beast after a Cajun score. One of our players was still in back of end zone when it discharged. Bout knocked him down. When he recovered he was not happy. Threatened us with bodily harm. Until he and we both realized we still had a cannon. And it reloaded with gas quickly.
It’s called detente.
Good times.
I was at the first game. We just missed Dan Pastorini by a year or two.
First game attended 1973. I had the opportunity to pass in front and see the progress and construction of CF every weekday on my way to attending 1st grade at Fatima. As a 6 year old it looked huge back then to me while being built.
We should be promoting the hell out of the ULM game as "THE LAST GAME AT CAJUN FIELD AS YOU KNOW IT"
Come out and make memories and take your photos. One last time.
Oh wait we don't do actual promotions except faculty and staff discount tickets.
Hell give out red/white construction hats!
