    Anyone can do it.

    No one has.

It would require knowing who was available, what their income was at the time, what their prospects were, were they considered successful, what their experience level was then, were they disgruntled, are they a mover, what kind of offense do they run, defense, what are their connections, will the donors appreciate their status?

Going back now the looming aspect is would their experiece level now influence how we percive them today instead of how they were percieved then. Even if you interviewed the coaches from then, they would not give you an accurate picture of where they stood at that moment in time.

I'm not going back in time and deciphering all that, it makes the the question asked, unknowable.

You are wrong. Plenty of people put out list back then. I was one of them. This isn’t rocket science.

Back to back top 25 seasons, coming off a 13-1 record…plenty of names would have wanted this job. The hire was lazy and set the football program back years. It told the community that they do not care about growing the brand.

Back then was back then. Back then (in real time) would require copy>paste>save but would have been fairly easy in real time.

Doing a back then right now is another matter.

If you did a back then, back then, it probably required a document that you still have.

Some would like to reminisce on the search that never was.

. . . so I guess you knew before CMD knew cause that’s the only way you could have known before I knew . . . stranger things have been said here, like someone knew somebody since before they were born . . . didn’t think you were one of those but apparently you are . . . live on buddy . . .

No one's advocating we overpay our head coach slot here regardless of who's in the job. Its going to vary. But there's CUSA head coaches earning more than we're paying our head coach. What's done is done. No sense going back in time relitigating the hire. However its fair to argue the results in real time. Usually coaches need a 3 year sample size to establish their program. But this situation of taking over a winning program, continuing the 'cULture' program that was emphasized as an overriding factor in the hire? Year One results were somewhat understandable. Year Two? There is the more slippage in every direction. We're obviously becoming a middling Sunbelt team at best. We cannot afford to stay the course we're on because fans are not returning in big numbers for a middle of the road Sunbelt program. If we're serious about getting the football program in position of making the expanded CFP in near future, change is needed now.

Back to the thread title, Southern Baton Rouge just fired their HC. I think he was there only 2 or 3 seasons.

2nd season. Played Jackson St for the SWAC title last year.

(He was on the board while this was happening) Also said, money was not a deterrent for Lanning taking the job.

Btw, private donors had $3 mm ready to pay Billy to keep him and his staff in Lafayette. But we couldn't pay for a national search and high caliber coach? The truth is, private money wanted to pay a big-time coach. MH wanted to go clearance shopping.
This is my statement on Lanning interviewing and being on campus.
I never saw him on campus and never claimed that I saw him on campus.
I did meet a different candidate at a local watering hole by happenstance but it wasn't worth posting and still isn't.

Doesn't take much to change direction from JMU/App St/etc. to ULM

So when I said it wasn’t accurate, and you said “uhh yea it is” that’s not you stating he was on campus?
