It is true that we are broke af as an athletics department. Most of that is because of the failure of the Foundation to grow RCAF. 15 years and we've gone backward with regard to regular membership and average donation.
If you look at life BB (before Billy) and AB, we still have stepped up our assistant pool money, and a few other areas that rival the top of the SBC. Facilities are still top-notch, sans CajunField. We do lag behind in cost of attendance stipend and NIL infrastructure.
I say all of that to say this: The job is desirable. The right staff could have easily continued winning here. I'm not saying I'm totally out on Des, but specific to the hiring process, yes, it's disappointing how it played out, considering the resources we have to offer.
. . . don't fool yourselves, if this in fact happened, and these two were targeted/interviewed, it is most certain that the interview revealed that we were not even close in the ballpark of acceptable salaries for that quality and experience of coach and it is prime evidence that there was no coach that would have been revealed in a further search which would have been acceptable to the talking heads on this board and that would have come to Louisiana for $750,000 . . . CMD then became our guy . . . the only guy . . . reality is always much different than made up stuff . . .
So we've gone from "Lanning wasn't interviewed!" to "well, if he was, it probably showed we couldn't afford him."
Goal post moving mfs lol
I dontcknow, if the avergae RCAF donation rose or fell.
I'll say this, the average RCAF donation should have dropped through the floor, but only because membership quadrupled.
I know part of the equation didn't happen.
