Pretty expected…The difference is the Troy coach will be bringing in his own guys…and probably a few players…we didn’t have that luxury

That's what Napier did to us. Des had to coach the bowl game vs. Marshall with a depleted staff and many of his top players out. And, he still won!

Regarding Tulane, it has a well recognized name and is located in a great city. Conferences still select based on market size, i.e. LA (USC & UCLA to Big 10) Dallas (SMU to ACC), Seattle (Washington to Big 10), Denver (Colorado to Big 12, SLC (Utah to Big 12), Phoenix (ASU to Big 12). New Orleans is a very attractive destination city. Plus, Tulane has access to the Superdome if needed. If Tulane continues to win, it has a chance at a P5 conference that Troy and no other SBC school has, much like SMU. The coach gets a better city to live in than Troy, more money, better schedule, and association with a more prestigious academic university. I'm not a Tulane fan, but Tulane does have advantages many schools don't.

. . . if we are going to be honest here, this . . . but that happens seldom here when it comes to Tulane, LSU, McNeese, LaTech . . .

To be totally honest and objective, as much as I love NOLA, it’s not a great city to live in. The murder rate is through the roof, the mayors have been totally corrupt for decades and the latest mayor might be the worst ever.

My granddaughter went to uptown MaGehee. Whenever I picked her up I’m always watching for some thug mugging me. Just before Katrina one of my friends was mugged in a popular West Bank Mall. I was joining along with several friends for an after work drink. This month 4 teenagers went to trial for murdering a 69 year old woman in a botched car jacking where she was dragged to death ripping her arm off. 3 female minors copped a 2nd degree manslaughter conviction, the fourth is majority age teenage male and he’s going to trial this month. At the Costco another botched carjacking murder in early 23.

Now Troy is nowhere Alabama but relatively safe especially compared to the murder capital of the Americas.

Uab has an ex nfl Qb as a first year coach. Dude could probably be on an nfl staff if he wanted.
