Thread: Cajuns and Billy Napier

  1. Default Cajuns and Billy Napier

Both 5-5. Sunbelt Billy gave up 701 yards to LSU. Oof. If only both teams could meet in a bowl game. I know it won’t happen but that would be fun.

We should hire him back after he’s fired.

Napier will get another year. You can see the difference in his players. Yes a few knuckleheads out there tonight, but way less than last year. Montrel was brought there not only for his skills but leadership. He’s a role model on how to behave, acts like he’s been there before.

    Montrel is a beast.

    Good idea.

Napier might end the season 5-7 with a 5 game losing streak. They end with @mizzou and vs FSU. Good luck, Billy.

Yup that defense is mostly Fr & So. They are learning in the job. #3 recruiting class in the country too.

    It will resemble FSU.

Yeah. No way he gets fired this season with the way his staff is recruiting currently.

Napier is not going anywhere anytime soon. He is
making progress with a very young team and (as was noted above) currently has the #3 recruiting class in the country headed to Gainsville.
The bigger question is what will LSU look like when Daniels is gone? He had almost 600 of LSU’s 700 yards of offense!

I was thinking the same thing. They’re going from a QB who can throw and run like a track star to a pure flat footed pocket passer next season. We won’t be seeing any QB sneaks for 50 plus next Fall.

The proverbial eggs all in one basket.

I think Billy gets 2 more years just because they have been changing coaches way to much and fast recently.
We have Des for at least 2 more years. I hope for longer which would mean he starts competing for conference championships.
Just playing what if. What if FL fires Napier and we have an opening at same time for HC. Ya think he would ever apply here again? If we happen to have an opening upon his firing at FL in 1 or 2 years? Would UL still be interested ?

All that being said, this place won’t be an attractive job anymore if we have to fire a football coach. Let’s hope we are not in this position in 2 years. Need some Momentum with the new stadium and all coming.

Here’s a simple but interesting question: why was Napier so successful in the Sun Belt but so bad in the SEC?

It’s almost as if the Sun Belt isn’t on the same level as the SEC. And if that’s the case, then what would Napier bring back to UL? More Sun Belt success, which still would not compare to any sort of P5 conference success? Sure, UL would obtain some degree of short term gain, but how can anyone think that would translate into longer term success?

2025 new stadium with billy ball coming back. Huge splash in the community. Packed Cajun field.

Billy inherited a pretty good roster here. Florida was in shambles when he got there and he had to get rid of several cancers in the locker room. If he is given time he will win at Florida.
