I didn't say winning the national championship was meaningless.
I asked what did winning it "accomplish the following year?"
Well, Louisiana's meaningless bowl (your words) the following year accomplished more than LSU accomplished the year following their title.
The title has no coat tails.
Winning national championships bring in TV money to the school and conference, prestige, top level talent on the field, perceived top level coaches, big time sponsors with deep pockets to name a few things. And that’s every year, not just the year a national championship is won. THAT is what the advantages are of being a MAJOR college in football.
So what did UL accomplish more than LSU?
