If we were 9-1, like we should be, and win the SBC we would have a shot. An 11-1 UL vs and undefeated JMU and the Cajuns win, in 2024 we would be in the CFP as the highest ranked G5 champ.

It will take scheduling tougher much tougher.

But the opportunity, "chance" to capitalize on that opportunity is as open to Louisiana as it is to LSU.
So if it will tougher scheduling on UL’s part, then no, there isn’t the same chance.

No wonder you're confused by the word "chance."

    Only P5 are given slots.

Louisiana would have to earn it.

The increase to the athletic budget and the required home schedule alone would transform the athletic dept and the city of Lafayette. People make this speculation all the time not realizing what comes with the P5 patch. Turn it around. Half of the P5 schools in the country would go to ____ if they had to trade their patch in for a mid-major.

If you quit talking in terms of silver spoons unearned, you will understand that chance means it can happen not that it is given to them and will happen.

I’m not confused at all. With tougher scheduling, which would have to be against P5 teams, and win those games, it isn’t happening.

And what will another meaningless bowl accomplish?

These conversations took place years ago but case in point, look at what Louisiana did following LSU's most recent National Championship run.

Louisiana had some of its best recruiting classes in recent memory.
Yea this is a great point. It obviously still implies that UL’s roster would be at the mercy of LSU’s, but you’re right that there would still be some hope for UL recruiting.

Louisiana hasn't tried, your opposition to trying is not normal.
