Coaches are eternal optimists.
Bustle followed Baldwin after enjoying Michael Vick's winning ways.
Do you think he thought he would find a Michael Vick clone to succeed? No but as an eternal optimist he took the job after Baldwin, who incidentally Desormeaux surpassed in career wins after year one.
The thing Napier’s teams always did right was the little things that you don’t pay attention to unless they are going bad. The last 2 years has been the exact opposite. If it can go wrong, it will. That’s all on coaching.
When Des was hired I was completely against it for 1 reason…after turning the program into a top 25 team, we went the entry level hire route. That tells me everything I need to know about the administration and the people making the hires. It doesn’t matter if we get a great young coach and put together a good run, because as soon as he leaves we will be back to square one with another cheap entry level hire.
If the powers that be wanted to get the attention of the community, they needed to make a splash hire. Let the community know that we are not going back to the days of losing.
I no longer care like I did before. If we win great, if we lose, oh well.
After waking up sober with a slight headache, I regret nothing that I said. Dez and company are not it. They need to see the door and GTFO.
They didn’t because they don’t care. They wanted an entry level guy who they could pay the entry level wage.
But like I said I don’t care anymore. I’ll still watch but I’ll be staying home a lot more often and enjoy it from the couch with my dogs and good bourbon.
What really worries me the most is des and staff have NOT shown any improvement from year 1 to year 2
What I would really love for Des to do is give up playcalling and focus on being head coach. We literally have nothing to lose at this point
