Giving the students off but not suggesting mentally healthy events to attend is like winning a championship and not hoisting a banner.

Both are counter intuitive.

Meanwhile I’m seeing 15 minutes of sports news about the LSU women basketball game, getting rings and banners tonight.

Do you not understand that teams with on campus stadiums host football games on week nights every week without cancelling classes?

Didn't realize that's what we were talking about, but if other schools don't cancel classes for week night football games, it seems you would be really happy our university figured out a way to let students out early today.

If we cancelled class for the football game, why did we give up on promoting it? If the game was clearly cancelled for football, why do a majority of our students not even realize there is a game tonight?

I never brought up promoting anything because the university does not do that very well. Promoting the game isn't what our conversation has been about.

From my first post, all I have been saying that it was no coincidence that early dismissal just happened to fall on the day of our weekday football game and I was happy UL came up with a way to let out early today.

Even though UL dismissed early today (what fans wanted), you were upset that we did not word the reason for early dismissal like USM did. I simply explained why we couldn't use the same reason.

Excuse me now as I have to go to the game, I'm sure I'll see you there right?

I promise you, I am just as upset as everyone else about the whole situation regarding athletics.

Even though it was indirectly done and they did not mention football as the reason, I was just happy to see they did this one thing that seemed like something positive for athletics.

Well, I'm 50 and it seems like a very distant memory of me watching us beat these fools.

I was a student last time we beat them, think it was 1992 or 1993.

I can’t for the life of me think this is ok with Dr Maggard. That is not Dr Maggard. Something odd is going on.
This has been a weird week. Why do us us as fans have to beg people to go. This game should be promoted all around campus and town! All professors should be telling their students why they are getting a half day today!!! To get to the game! Why not get the volleyball state championship families over also after their games today? You know they are staying in hotels around Lafayette anyway.

I have a feeling that after Dr Maggard didn’t get the Mizzu AD job after his great hires of Glasco and Napier and the progress UL athletics made on the national scenes with branding and such, he decided to just settle in and ride out the UL AD job till retirement time.

That means not rocking the boat anymore and just complying.
